So a long night in the toggy got off to a loosing start for the Trap A, the two young boys Luke Baston and John Doherty tried their hardest to beat Bob Simpson and Tony Bainbridge, but the experience got the better of them and Bob managed to sink the black.
Next to the Table was Liam Stevens and Bill Foster, who have only lost one of their last 3 doubles fixtures. And with a mistake from John Douglas, Bill foster was able to pot the black and get the Trap A Straight back in the game.
For our last doubles fixture of the night, John Boyd accompanied by Snooker Joe (Joe Davison) played a good game against John Moore and Simon Bowman, and with a in off on the black from John Moore, it made sure that the trap secured at least 2 points.
So next was the start of the singles and to kick start the games was Joe, who played an on Form Bob Marshall. So with a few snookers from Joe, Bob got slightly stressed, but after a fancastic up and down the board to pot the black, Bob secured the point and took the match to 2 – 2.
Next to the table was John Boyd, who drew out another on form player Simon Bowman. John tried hard to secure a 3rd point and to put us in the lead, but after a few chances, Simon got the better of the board and made it 3 – 2.
Bill Foster was up next, and he played John Moore who maybe lost some confidence after potting the white and black in the doubles, but he played some tremendous shots, but Bill got the better of John and made sure the Trap got it back to level terms.
Liam Stevens was next against Bartender John Douglas who was currently top of the merits winning 3 out of a possible 3 games. So John going in on a high and Liam searching for his 1st league win this season, everyone knew it was a crucial game. Liam looked doomed after John managed to pot 6 off the trot, and get down to the black with Liam still left with 5 reds on the board, but after John left the black on the cushion Liam knew his chance was there. After john left the black covering the pocket, Liam knew he had to finish it there. So with some tremendous shots and a double finish for the black, Liam secured a 4 -3 lead.
Next was John Doherty (DOC) , and with a lack of experience wasting 2 shots he gifted Jamie Walker the game. So 4 – 4
Last but not least was Luke Baston, and with a few chances to finish the game, he should of won, but with Tony gifted 2 shots Tony managed to win the game and gift the toggy a 5 – 4 win without 1 main player Barry Stevens !!!!!
